THIS BLOG HAS MOVED

I finally did it! After securing a better, more accurate name for my blog, I’ve moved. The new place has all the same info I’ve posted here, but it’s cute, clean and easy to navigate. Please change all your info to reflect the new address which is Abundant Frugal Life. com. See you over there!

Saving $$ Room by Room

Isn’t that a great title?  It’s the title of my new page.  I’ve only covered the bathroom so far, but the page will be added to over time.  Hope you enjoy the read.  Please feel free to comment.

Awesome Barbie Recycling Program at Walmart - November 8th

Do your daughters have any strung-out looking Barbie dolls to get rid of? You know - the Barbies whose hair looks like yours in the morning, their legs have been chewed on by baby brothers, and they’re laying at the bottom of some closet with no clothes on and never get played with anymore.

Check out the Barbie recycling program at participating Walmarts. On November 8th, noon-3pm, bring in those trashed dolls and for each one you recycle, Mattel will donate a new one to a children’s hospital (up to 100,000 dolls). This is a great way to teach our young daughters about recycling and giving. Great program! (Thanks, Denise)

Salute to Chocolate!

Did y’all cash in on the Walgreen’s deal this week? With their store coupons (from the Sunday paper) and my manufacturer coupons, I was able to score 14 Dove Silky Smooth candy bars for 50c each. Just what my back side needs. Then I had a cashier and a store mgr. who didn’t know how to work it all into the system, so I ended up paying $3.28 for all 14 bars.

I’m munchin’ on one right now because today was a very difficult day for me. Sometimes the world’s a nicer place when I have a big ol’ hunk of chocolate in my hand. Nobody better touch my other 13.

Stockpiling for Hurricane Gustav Vicitims

For those of you who stockpile and live in the Gulf Coast region, or the region where Gustav evacuees are being sheltered, here is a list of area shelters who could use your stash. You can call your area shelter and ask who is in charge of the relief effort and if you can get a contact name & number. See if they need your supplies and where & when you can drop them off. This is a great hands-on way our entire family can participate in helping and giving to others.

If you don’t stockpile/live in the area, but would still like to donate, cash is the number one necessity. Cash helps even more because organizations can purchase exactly what they need for any given situation. Go to RedCross.org for more info. There are many relief organizations set up to help Gustav victims.

Which Coupons Really Pay Off?

I’ve updated my Couponing page with a section called “Which Coupons Really Pay Off?” This is a list of coupons I keep an eye out for. As more come to mind, I’ll update that section. Please email me if I’ve left something off.

CVS Policy Change?

Was it just the 2 stores closest to me or did anyone else have this issue?…

My CVS stores always start the new sale week on Saturday.  I went to 2 CVS stores and, though they had started the new sale week, both stores told me the ECB wash items (only one this week - Revlon buy one for $9.99 and get $9.99 ECB) start Sunday.  I haven’t heard any chat about this, that’s why I’m wondering if anyone else ran into that problem.

Is this a new policy, that “wash” items will start on Sunday even though the rest of the sale starts on Saturday?  Dopey me didn’t think to ask either mgr.  I guess I could call.  Did you buy your Revlon Saturday and get your ECB’s?

Blogroll Update

“Hey y’all!” That’s the Southern equivalent to “Listen up!” However “Hey y’all” sounds so much sweeter and more inviting, especially with a thick accent, don’t you think? Back to my point. I’ve updated and expanded my blogroll. These are blogs I really do check either daily or weekly. Look how long my list is! The brown color just couldn’t stretch any more. Just thought you might like some of those and add them to your list of dailies/weeklies to check. Love y’all! Okay does that sound fake or sincere? :)  Email me if you have a site you want me to check out.

Taking a Blogging Siesta
