About Me & Contact
I’m a Texan! Aren’t we obligated to state that first and foremost? I’m a Christian, book-loving, kid-toting, money-saving homeschooling artist wannabe, who can organize anything. I start projects and it is my apparent aim to not finish them because that is one goal I know I can accomplish, and so often do.
I love saving my family money. I get a rush from finding a good deal on something we need, want, or will use. I especially get excited about freebies. I’m not sure what makes me like this especially since I don’t like shopping. My life isn’t so boring that I spend all my time finding and doing deals. I just can’t believe the amount of stuff we get for free. We are able to give beyond what we ever thought we could on our single income. I’m teaching my children frugality and the excitement of saving money - not just spending it wisely.
I’m a homeschooler who has her doubts on her bad days and, on her good days, can’t understand why everyone doesn’t homeschool. I started homeschooling wanting just to get through third grade with each of my children so they would have a strong start in math, reading and writing. I wanted them solid in basics without any hang-ups. I wanted more time with them for discipleship and being grounded in their young spiritual walks. As time went on I saw the blessings of us being at home together. With my small children I used to sometimes wonder if I was just jumping on the latest spiritual band wagon of homeschooling. In the end, when they’re 25 years old, will it really matter that I’ve homeschooled? My oldest is 13. Yes, it really matters. My children are getting older and the blessings of homeschooling are more than I would have ever dreamed of.
So when you’re having a bad day with homeschooling and you wonder if you’re doing your children more harm than good, email me. If I could, I would invite you over for a cup of tea or coffee (your preference - mine is iced tea) and talk you through your woes.
Visit often, leave comments, or email me. I love my friends! People are a blessing, but relationships can get sticky at times. Please be patient with me if you’re waiting for an answer to a question. The cyber world is big and I try my best, but I have other relationships pulling at my heart and time as well. My family is patient with me when I’m on the computer. Please be patient with me while I tend to my non-cyber side of life.
Thanks so much,
Lisa

A note about comments: This is an upbeat only section. No complaining, venting, whining here. I would like for you to feel good after visiting with me and will strive to delete (as quickly as I can) any negative views/comments posted. I love to read comments and certainly welcome contrary opinions, thoughts and ideas if expressed kindly.
Okay, I’ve decided to add this information here because people have actually asked me about my favorites (more than once). How funny. You ask, you get. Just realize that I’m a woman and what I write today may not apply tomorrow.
Favorite movie: Ben Hur (I don’t know if it’s Charlton Heston or Judah Ben Hur, but ya just gotta love him!) Seriously though, this is a great story about a man working through his salvation during the time of Christ. Beautiful subplots as well.
Favorite book: God’s Smuggler: Brother Andrew (to date) Incredible reading of unbelievable faith beyond what I could ever muster. A true hero of the faith.
Favorite song: Brandy (I’m a 70’s child all the way) All music 1968-1978 yummy.
Favorite worship song: The answer to this is truly difficult. I choke up when singing Amazing Grace and Be Still My Soul. Few modern day equivalents. I also choke up at patriotic music.
