Health Insurance

I don’t usually do this for people I know, but we’ve had such wonderful experiences every time we’ve talked to him. Paul is our “insurance guy”. He’s a great person and is very knowledgeable (homeschooling dad & former president of our county home school association too).

My husband is self-employed so we’re always looking for better health coverage. We’ve looked into everything from Christian share-cost ministries to standard coverage. He’s given us pros and cons of the different types of coverage and even suggestions about combining.

Paul is licensed in TX, OH, GA, TN, NC, LA and is happy to talk with anyone. He is generous with his time and resources and has saved us lots of money. Just a great frugal tip if anyone is in the same boat - looking for coverage.

I don’t get anything for posting this. It’s just a great deal with a great guy. FYI.

Having Trouble Stacking Target Coupons?

Target has several store coupons out right now that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons (diapers, Procter & Gamble products, etc.). However it has been my experience (and many others’ if you’ve visited Freebies 4 Mom today) that Target cashiers aren’t trained in their own coupon policy. I’ve explained it to them at my store and I’ve taken in a copy of their own coupon policy which you can find here.

That has always worked. However, if there is ever a problem beyond that point, I would have THEM call corporate while I’m standing in line. Sorry to all the shoppers behind me. I really do hate keeping people waiting, but Target employees should be properly trained.

Blogroll Update

“Hey y’all!” That’s the Southern equivalent to “Listen up!” However “Hey y’all” sounds so much sweeter and more inviting, especially with a thick accent, don’t you think? Back to my point. I’ve updated and expanded my blogroll. These are blogs I really do check either daily or weekly. Look how long my list is! The brown color just couldn’t stretch any more. Just thought you might like some of those and add them to your list of dailies/weeklies to check. Love y’all! Okay does that sound fake or sincere? :)  Email me if you have a site you want me to check out.

Great Way to Snack

The worst heat of a Texas summer is almost upon us (mid-July through mid-August). The kids still enjoy running and playing outside in 100+ heat. They drink plenty of water and eat plenty of snacks.

Here’s a great way to organize snacks for little ones (even big ones). Dole it out in the morning and leave them to their all-day grazing.

One muffin tin per person. It can be a 6 or 12 cup tin. Any color, any make, any model works fine. Much to our children’s chagrin, we only do healthy snacks unless we have company in the evenings. Fill each tin with an assortment of:

raisins, nuts, cantloupe, grapes, seeds, cherries, strawberries, whole apple, pineapple chunks, baby carrots, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, celery, natural popcorn, etc.

You can leave the tins on the table or in the fridge. Little hands can help themselves and that means less interruptions for you! That’s the goal anyway, right? Just a handy little idea that I’ve picked up along life’s way.
