Items I Get, But Don’t Pay For Anymore

Though the deals haven’t been so sweet this week, I look at the long standing record and realize how much I’m saving my family. I consistently pay nothing for the following items (and many times actually make money for taking it off the store shelf). Having shopped like this, it truly bothers me to see someone at check out actually paying for these items.

Shampoo
Conditioner
Deodorant
Body wash
Liquid hand soap
Bandaids
Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Mouthwash
Gum (I’m a piano teacher-we chew it all the time)
Excedrin (of one sort or another)

Lotion and some other items would also be on that list if I wasn’t so stinkin’ picky.

Not to mention all the items I pay pennies on the dollar for (pasta, cereal, toilet paper, paper towels,etc.). It also makes me wonder why, when I teach women how to shop like this, they don’t always jump all over it and take advantage of the incredible savings.

Okay ladies, help me out. What have I left off my list?

CVS Deals for 6/15-6/21

Wow, CVS is really getting bad about deals. It’s just not worth a trip this week. Even the $1.88 Colgate deal stinks (it will be a better deal the following week). Speaking of the following week, much better deals to come at CVS. Stay tuned (and my ad scan should be much better next week).

Even the coupons in Sunday’s paper aren’t that good or plentiful - one Smartsource (could vary slightly by region).

Combining Fruits

When making a fruit salad, you should never combine acid fruits with sweet fruits (for digestive purposes).  This now explains why when I eat strawberries and bananas, although yummy, I get a tummy ache. You can, however, combine sub-acid fruits with either acid fruits or sweet fruits. Here are the lists

ACID FRUITS
Strawberries
Grapefruit
Oranges
Lemons (lemons combine well with all plant foods)
Pineapple
Raspberries
Cranberries
Tangerines
Limes

SWEET FRUIT
Bananas
Papaya
Dates
Figs
Raisins
Prunes
Other dried fruits

SUB-ACID FRUITS (can combine with either of the 2 above lists)
Apples
Apricots
Blackberries
Blueberries
Cherries
Nectarines
Peaches
Pears Mangos
Plums
Grapes

Eat MELONS alone because they do not digest well with other foods. Any of the melons can be combined with each other (honey dew, cantalope, watermelon, etc.) .
