Make Your Own Foaming Soap

3 parts water to 1 part liquid soap (I prefer Softsoap)

I invested in those Dial foam soap pumps for all our sinks (certainly not without coupons). Now I make foam soap for everyone. The kids make less of a mess, and it all gets washed off their little hands that are always in a hurry. It also obviously drops the speed at which we blow through soap. Sure, you have to refill their little dispensers more often, but it’s worth it to save some $$$.

Kroger Today

Hope you’re all still workin’ that Kroger deal - buy 10 participating items and get $5 back at the register.

I went and got 10 items - all items were on sale to begin with and I had coupons that were 75c each, and one 50c coupon that got doubled. I had coupons for everything I purchased! My load was nearly free. What an awesome deal!

I posted about this deal before I left for vacation and was pleasantly surprised to come back and be able to take advantage of it.

Today at Walmart

Today I went to Walmart since we were out of milk, eggs, bread and other things I rarely get coupons for. You know me! I can hardly walk out of a store anymore without getting something for free. Here’s what I found.

Malt-o-Meal 12 oz cereal bags
5 for $5
They were on the end of an isle and they’re the small bags.
I had coupons and got 4 free! I only purchased 4.

Johnson’s Buddies hand soap (in the infant section)
94c each
I had $1 off coupons
Got 6 free!

The tricky thing with Walmart is even if you think you’re going to get an overage on your coupon, they will not allow the coupon to exceed the price. In other words, the Buddies soap was only 94c. I used a $1 off coupon. They would only let me use 94c on that coupon. I had no overage to apply to the rest of the groceries I bought. Bummer, but free is free.

Not every Walmart works that way.  In fact, from what I hear, it all depends on your cashier.  I just seem to get the worst of the lot.

Family Games

We like to play board games as a family and with other couples. We don’t do it nearly as much as we would like to. Our favorite resource for games is

Walmart, Toys R Us, and Rainbow Resource Center have some of the games at lower prices, but others are difficult to find elsewhere. For the games we can’t find cheaper anywhere else, we buy from Mindware.

We enjoy Blokus, Davinci Challenge, Sequence, Quarto!, Ingenious, Quoridor. We also enjoy the old favorites like Battleship, Mastermind, Monopoly, and Clue.
